Chapter Highlight: Raising the Bar for Fraternity Men as a Whole

Our Spring Recruitment within Delta Tau Delta was more of a success than previous Spring Semesters. Throughout a variety of recruitment events, including Pizza with potental new members, basketball and football events, we have successfully recruited 6 Potential New Member’s for the chapter. This semester, we are stressing to all members that it is imperative to get involved within the BGSU, and city of Bowling Green through community service and philanthropy events. We are striving to establish and partake in three philanthropy events this semester to support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Our main philanthropy event will be Delt Dollar Dog Night, which will take place in late March or Early April (dependent on weather). We will be stationed outside the Ziggy’s parking lot between 12:00am and 3:00am on a Friday or Saturday, selling dollar hot dogs to raise money for JDRF.

During the past few months, we have worked at becoming more involved as a chapter within the local community. Our biggest philanthropy event during the Fall Semester was called “Get Basic with Delt”. During this philanthropy event, we urged our New Members to get involved from the beginning, in order to stress the importance of raising funds for JDRF. New Members were eager to help set up the tents in the Union Oval, and gave 100% effort to advertising for this day. Our philanthropy included providing pumpkin spice coffee to students and faculty, in which they were given information about JDRF, and were encouraged to donate anything they could to help this organization. This philanthropy was a success, and we raised over $250.00 in support for finding a cure for juvenile diabetes.

In addition to our philanthropy events, we have also been stressing the importance of community service locally. For the Spring Semester, we have been stressing larger community service projects. For example, we plan on having the chapter attend community service opportunities at the Stroh Center to help set up various aspects of the center for sporting events, and special events being held. Alongside the chapter community service opportunities, we require each member also have other community service hours individually. Our reasoning behind both requirements is that we can come together as a chapter and make an impact within the community, as well as individually serve a variety of people by each member choosing a community service project that appeals to them specifically.

We firmly believe that Delta Tau Delta is a well-rounded, professional social fraternity. We are a chapter full of enthusiastic individuals who are consistently seeking to better ourselves as men, with a focus on helping others by being involved in our school, and our local community.
